This feature runs a security scan on your cPanel & WHM server and advises you how to resolve any security issues found.


If your system runs within a VPS environment, such as QEMU/KVM or Virtuozzo, options that affect the operating system may be unavailable. Contact your VPS hosting provider for assistance.

Scan your server

To begin the scan, navigate to Home >> Security Center >> Security Advisor in WHM.

A list of issues will appear in the following colors: 

ColorType Of AlertDescription
RedWarningSevere security issue. We strongly suggest that you address these issues.
YellowPossible IssueThese issues are not critical, but we suggest that you investigate and resolve these issues.
GrayInformationThis is typically a permissions issue where a user has been granted an unusual level of access. We suggest that you investigate and resolve these permissions issues.
GreenResolvedThis alert shows an issue that has been resolved.

Resolve the issues

Most of the warning and alert boxes will contain links to the appropriate WHM interface where you can resolve the issue.

For example, you may see the following warning:

To resolve this issue, click the link to navigate to the Update System Software screen. This allows you to update sshd to the latest version.

Scan your server again

After you resolve the issues on your server, click the Scan Again button to run the security scan again and confirm that you have resolved the issues.
